Biography

Catheeja Ismail is the program director. She has 24 years of experience in sonography education. She founded GW's sonography program in 1992 and takes pride and joy in its outstanding faculty, students and alumni. 

She is an active member of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and has served on its Education Committee, SCAN Development Task Force, and Advanced Practice Committee. 

Her research interests are in the professionalization of sonographers, and in sonography education. Her research interest in adult learning has a particular focus on generative learning theory. Her focus in research methodology is qualitative research, and in particular, in phenomenology.
