Joseph Andrew Signorino

Dr. Joseph Signorino is an assistant clinical professor in the Health, Human Function and Rehabilitation Sciences Department. He began as adjunct faculty within the George Washington University entry-level physical therapy program in 2013 and transitioned into a faculty position beginning in 2017. His current teaching responsibilities are in Movement Science II, Functional Anatomy, Therapeutic Modalities and the Advanced Manual Physical Therapy elective. He has worked in the Outpatient Physical Therapy Department at the George Washington University Hospital in various roles since 2010 and continues clinical practice at this location.
 
Dr. Signorino's primary practice and research interest is in orthopaedic physical therapy care with a special interest in the areas of the hip, patient expectations, and persistent pain. He is a board certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and completed his fellowship training in orthopaedic manual physical therapy. He is working towards earning a Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy terminal academic degree. He is a member of the Orthopaedic, Sports, and Education sections of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and is fellow member in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT). He is a member of the Specialization Academy of Content Experts (SACE) and writes board examination questions for the orthopaedic section. He is published in peer review journals and authored a textbook chapter. He is a recipient of the Clinical Educator of the Year award from the Physical Therapy Program at the George Washington University and recipient of the 2018 Follies - Golden Apple Award.
