Biography

Mary Lynn is and Occupational Therapist that started her career with a degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oneonta and worked in a school for children with disabilities where she found her passion for assistive technology and fostering independence. She went back for her masters degree and studied at Utica University in Upstate NY. While there, she requested a fieldwork specifically in Assistive Technology which led to her moving to DC.

She began her OT career at HSC Pediatric Center (now owned by Children’s National) where she worked specifically in their OPED (Orthotics, prosthetics, Equipment Department). She was able to see how assistive technology and access to Durable Medical Equipment can change lives and helped to facilitate the process of children and their families having access to the equipment that they needed. She then turned to working with adults and worked for almost three years as an Inpatient Occupational Therapist at National Rehabilitation Hospital where she continued to serve on the Assistive Technology Committee and saw how this work can impact people of all ages. Recently, she has began her work at GW University Hospital where she is able to work on both the inpatient rehab side as well as the acute medical/surgical floors where she continues using her love for adaptation in a functional setting and hopes to continue learning more every day.
