Biography

Dr. Leach has been a physical therapist for over 20 years with thirteen of those years spent in full-time clinical practice primarily in the inpatient rehabilitation setting. Her expertise is in the area of neurologic rehabilitation, and she became a board-certified Neurologic Certified Specialist in 2000 and was re-certified in 2010. Other certifications include a Certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults and a Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist, both in 2010. Dr. Leach teaches course content in her areas of expertise, including Clinical Conference II, Neuroscience for Rehabilitation II, Management of Neurologic Dysfunction, and Management of the Aging Adult. Dr. Leach’s research interests are in assessment and intervention to improve health and physical functioning both in patient populations and in populations at high risk of sustaining physical injury. She is particularly interested in procedural learning, or learning without conscious awareness, using an environment with both physical and cognitive challenges to improve functional outcomes. Dr. Leach is a member of the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy, and the Education and Neurologic Sections of the APTA.
