Biography

Dr. Guilliams earned his doctorate from the Medical College of Wisconsin (Milwaukee) where he studied molecular immunology in the Microbiology Department. He has 20 years of experience in the dietary supplement industry studying epidemiological data and clinical research to help him develop evidence-based nutritional solutions that enhance the efficacy of nutritional therapies in clinical practice.   He has an intimate knowledge of the raw material supply chain and ingredients that make up dietary supplements and functional foods.  His most recent books are  Supplementing Dietary Nutrients – A Guide for Healthcare Professionals, Supporting Immune Function- A Lifestyle and Nutrient Approach and The Role of Stress and the HPA axis in Chronic Disease Managment. Tom teaches at the University of Wisconsin-School of Pharmacy, where he holds an appointment as an adjunct assistant professor; and at the University of Minnesota School of Pharmacy, and is a faculty member of the Fellowship in Anti-aging Regenerative and Functional Medicine. He lives outside of Stevens Point, Wisconsin with his wife and children.

Research

Dr. Guilliams' research interests span a wide-range of disciplines; but can be summed up as examining the evidence for the us of lifestyle-related therapies (including nutrition and dietary supplements) for health outcomes. Particular topics of interest include:
